A Journey of Passion and Excellence
Welcome to Flamenco del Sur Orlando, where the fiery passion of Flamenco dance comes to life under the direction of our inspiring leader, Daniela Perez. With a heart full of passion and a lifetime of experience, Daniela, along with her talented team of professional instructors, is dedicated to bringing the rich, vibrant art of Flamenco to our community.
From Venezuela to Spain: A Dance of Destiny
Daniela was born in Venezuela and in 1992 she started her flamenco studies in Caracas, but it was not until 1997 when she traveled to Spain to attend the prestigious Amor de Dios flamenco academy in Madrid where she truly immersed herself in the culture, expanding and perfecting her knowledge of the art with great masters such as Ciro, Timo Lozano, Carmela Greco y La Tati, and in Sevilla with Concha la Carbonera and el Torombo.
In 1999, she completes her law degree at the University of Santa Maria in Caracas, Venezuela. After having worked for a time at the Supreme Court of Justice, she understood that her true-life goal is flamenco, so in 2001 she founded her own flamenco dance studio in Caracas called Flamenco Del Sur, all the while, continuing to travel to Spain to nourish herself with the art of flamenco.
A Legacy of Artistic Excellence
In 2002, 2004 and 2006, she attends the Flamenco Biennial of Sevilla where she participated in professional workshops with masters Joaquin Grilo, Maria del Mar Moreno, Lourdes Recio, Felipe Matos, Pilar Ortega and the Faraona of the Farrucos family. She also attended classes with master instructor Alejandro Granados at the Cristina Hoyos' Flamenco Dance Museum in Sevilla. In 2003 she received the CINATES (National Student Theater Circuit) award from the Central University of Venezuela, for best choreography for theatrical works. During that time, she also participated in plays, musicals, and concerts by renowned artists in Venezuela.
In 2004 she was part of the production “Carmen Sentir Gitano” in Port of Spain in Trinidad and Tobago, as the general flamenco dance choreographer and cast member. In 2011 she participated in professional workshops at the “Los Veranos del Corral” Festival in Granada, Spain with master instructors Mercedes Ruiz and Adela Campallo. During this time, she was also the general choreographer of large-scaled dance productions and musicals under her direction and authorship, one of which, the musical “Fenomenca”, was selected by FUNDARTE for the National Theater Circuit of Caracas in 2017, which took place at the Teatro Municipal in the same city.
A New Chapter in Central Florida
In 2017, Daniela moved to Orlando, Florida, and quickly became a central figure in the local arts scene. From 2018 to 2020, she served as the General Director of Orlando Fine Art Academy, before founding Flamenco Del Sur Orlando Dance and Music Studio in 2020. This vibrant studio in Lake Nona is more than just a place to learn Flamenco—it's a hub for cultural enrichment and artistic collaboration.
Today, Daniela continues to inspire through her performances and teaching, bringing Flamenco’s magic to Central Florida’s stages and classrooms. Whether she’s performing at a professional event, engaging in educational outreach, or leading Flamenco workshops, Daniela’s mission is to share the beauty and passion of Flamenco with all who seek it.
